Start of the month: dive into the depths
Picture this: the month begins and you are immediately fully engaged in an in-depth interview process at Heras Hekwerken. With more than 1,200 employees, your job is to uncover the core issues in information security and lead the implementation of the ISO 27001 standard. This is just the warm-up to a month full of challenges. Jelle says, "Every new project brings unique challenges, but starting at Heras Hekwerken was an interesting dive into a large organization. It gives a thrill to be so involved!"
Diversity of projects
At Fendix, no day is the same. Take a look at some of Jelle's activities:
- TotalEnergies Charging Solutions Netherlands: Jelle supports the organization during the important external audit.
- Logis Software: the final touches for certification - the external audit also took place for this organization. Jelle was involved in the implementation. He was not present during the external audit, but of course he calls the customer to ask how the audit went.
- BTTR: At the same time, the implementation of ISO 9001 and 27001 is ongoing.
- BlueprintLearning: Jelle flies out for his first foreign assignment to Copenhagen and conducts an internal audit.
- DASystems: not everything takes place physically, it also adds its value digitally - the digital internal audit for NEN 7510 and ISO 27001 is on the program.
- GGZWestelijk Noord-Brabant: after a successful GAP analysis, he meets once a month with the Information Security Officer (ISO) of GGZ WNB to jointly improve their information management system (ISMS).
He also maintains his own clients. "These are customers where I have already completed a successful implementation. Think of organizations such as Ultimoo Debt Collection, SPL, STP Connect and HIX," Jelle indicates. As icing on the cake, a quarterly meeting takes place, where all developments and results within Fendix are discussed. "It's so diverse, no day is the same," Jelle says. The meeting ends with a pleasant Friday afternoon drink.
But how do you manage all the assignments?
Jelle knows how to manage his time well. He plans large projects carefully:
- Fixed days are blocked for large customers.
- Much of the project is planned ahead in detail.
- Client preference helps determine the agenda.
- Working from home alternates with days in the office, which makes for a fine balance.
"Working from home gives me the peace of mind to work out things like reports and policies. But being in the office also brings that indispensable team dynamic. It's very sociable, of course. We regularly play a game of ping pong or FIFA to relax for a while," Jelle explains.
Self-development and teamwork
Self-development is key at Fendix. Jelle keeps his knowledge sharp by:
- attending training sessions;
- Maintaining LinkedIn for networking and trends;
- attend internal knowledge-sharing sessions.
He also works closely with juniors. He takes them into the world of information security and lets them experience the profession from the inside. "Guiding new talents is one of the most rewarding aspects of my job," says Jelle. Personal input is also important to Fendix. For example, Jelle has developed a traineeship for the organization so that inexperienced talents can grow into Senior Consultant.
