The term KAM stands for, "Quality, Working Conditionsand Environment. These are the main topics the KAM coordinator deals with. The KAM coordinator is called QHSE manager in some companies. QHSE stands for Quality, Health, Safetyand Environment. This position focuses on maintaining and improving the KAM management system. This means that the KAM coordinator ensures that the organization complies with health and safety and environmental laws and with the quality requirements and wishes of the organization.   

The role

The role of the KAM coordinator is to manage and maintain the KAM management system. During the implementation process, the KAM coordinator is trained and introduced to the management system. After the implementation is completed, the KAM coordinator will take care of the management and maintenance. He is responsible for the following items that lead to the improvement of the KAM system, including but not limited to:

  • Implementing changes in ISO standards and/or legislation;
  • Suggesting and/or implementing areas for improvement of the KAM management system;
  • Conduct internal audits and correct any deficiencies;
  • Supervise external audits and correct any deficiencies;
  • Monitor, guide and/or execute the ISO implementation process;
  • Implement and/or direct action items resulting from the management review;

The job of KAM coordinator is very broad and is often not limited to the topics listed above. Every organization has its own business operations and associated areas of focus. Thus, there are topics that require more or less attention.
