A tumultuous start at Fendix

Ruben started at Fendix as an Information Security Consultant! Despite his enthusiasm for the role, he noticed that something was missing beyond consultancy. Resolute as Ruben is, he decided to have a conversation with Wouter and Mathijs right away.

One thing was already clear: marketing had always interested Ruben. Fortunately, Wouter immediately saw the potential too. "Then go ahead and do it!" was the response. And so it happened. Since then, Ruben has become an indispensable part of our marketing team.

Marketing specialist and manager

A lot has changed since Ruben took on his first marketing tasks. Fendix started as a start-up, but our rapid growth made it necessary to collaborate more within marketing as well. There is now much more internal alignment, and the Sales and Operations departments are also more involved in what we want to convey (online).

"We are now truly a department, with collaboration. Where the work used to be independent, much more time now goes into cooperation and co-creation. It’s much more about aligning with each other, and that’s fun!"

As the person responsible for our marketing strategy and campaigns, Ruben ensures that Fendix remains visible and recognizable as a brand. He is actively involved in content creation, such as our downloads and whitepapers, as well as the website and corporate identity. In addition, he is slowly emerging as the manager of our marketing team. He coordinates our communications and always provides feedback with a smile.

What is actually fun about his work?

When we ask Ruben what he really loves about his current job, he says the following:

"We are now looking more and more at the effectiveness and professionalism of the content we create ourselves. At first, it was mainly about content creation and creativity; now, we are continuously analyzing and improving ourselves."

Together with and partly thanks to Ruben, we continue to take great steps in positioning Fendix as a brand in the market. This has been fundamental to the growth we have experienced as a group, allowing us to serve more clients.

Who is Rentenaar outside of work?

Besides the fact that Ruben clearly has his heart in the right place and gets along perfectly with everyone, he is also our digital nomad. As Fendix’s adventurer, he is experiencing firsthand what it’s like to work remotely. In the autumn of 2025, he and his girlfriend Pam bought a house in Southern Spain. It was a dream for both of them to live in this sun-drenched region. Now that this dream has been realized, Ruben and Pam work remotely together. As partners, they also help each other professionally: they both work in social media and marketing and can exchange tips and tricks!

To complete his adventurous spirit, Ruben is constantly traveling the world. With recent trips to Northern Norway, Guatemala, and Montenegro, there is a good chance Ruben can inspire your next vacation too. Like many at Fendix, sports are a top priority. In March 2026, Ruben ran the Rotterdam Marathon in an absolute personal best!
