Disclaimer
“Our partnerships with various CIs do not involve formal cooperation. We maintain strong relationships, so that we can unburden organizations in the certification process. CIs act independently and are supervised by the Accreditation Council (RVA).”
What is a Certifying Body (CI)?
A certifying body is an independent organization that is authorized to issue certificates. They test whether your organization complies with the relevant ISO standard. For example, ISO 9001 for quality management or ISO 27001 for information security. A CI must be competent and independent to ensure the reliability of the certification process. The certifying body is therefore not allowed to play an advisory role.
When does your organization come into contact with a CI?
Your organization comes into contact with a CI when you apply for ISO certification. The CI tests whether your organization complies with the relevant ISO standard by means of an external audit. After that, they carry out the control audits every year. Want to learn more about the audit cycle? Watch here our blog.
What is the difference between accreditation and certification?
The Accreditation Council (RVA) assesses the competence and independence of the CI. When the CI complies with all guidelines, they may issue certificates under accreditation. This happens by norm. It is therefore possible that a CI is the ISO 27001 can certify under accreditation, but not the ISO 9001. To ensure the quality of the certificate, we only maintain contact with accredited CIs.
What is our relationship with the CIs
To provide organizations with the best possible support during an implementation process, we have partnerships with various CIs. Through these partnerships, we are in direct contact with the CI. This offers many benefits for your organization, such as:
- Support with requesting quotes:
A request for a quote for an external audit can be complex. We have experience in this process and have weekly contact with our contacts within the CIs, making it easy and fast to request quotes. This saves you worries and time.
- Price:
We are aware of the IAF-MD guidelines and the ISO 27006 standard, which describes the calculation requirements that a CI must comply with. This allows us to make an accurate assessment of audit days and we know which parts of reduction is possible. Consider, for example, the risk level of an organization or the maturity of the ISMS.
- Impartiality:
We have no obligations or financial gain when requesting quotes or advising in a CI. We always request multiple quotes from our partnerships CIs.
- Expertises from multiple parties:
We are quickly aware of market developments, such as changes in standards, renewal of accreditation and the capacity of CIs with regard to certification.
We maintain regular contact with the following CIs:
